Boreal Region of Canada - Study Area of the BEACONs Project

Aug 10, 2010
Description:
The study area for the BEACONs Project is the boreal and taiga regions of Canada as defined by the Boreal, Taiga, and Hudson Plain ecozones (Marshall and Schut 1999).The Algonquin Lake - Nipissing ecoregion of the Boreal Shield ecozone was removed from the study area because the tree species of this ecoregion are predominantly non-boreal (e.g., sugar and red maple, black ash, yellow birch, eastern hemlock, eastern white pine, and beech).
