Currently I provide overall coordination of the operation of the
High Conservation Value (HCV) Resource Network in line with 4 key
strategic aims:
1. Providing a credible central point of reference
2. Supporting development
& implementation of the HCV concept
3. Providing a governance & quality control function
4. Promoting use of the HCV approach in emerging &
potential applications
Key supporting actions that I am responsible for include: provision
of core information services (via a
website, regular email briefings and publications);
coordination of a Steering Group composed of key stakeholders, and
of a Technical Panel of HCV expert practitioners. Additionally I
work alongside the Network Manager in proactive outreach & project
development to meet the strategic objectives outlined above.
My educational background
is in zoology, with an emphasis on the behavioural ecology
of primates. I have fieldwork experience from lowland
dipterocarp forests in Southeast Asia (Sabah, Malaysian Borneo),
where I researched the adaptive response of populations of wild
orang utan to spatial and temporal patterns of fruit production.
